Growing as a Beginner
Here's how I'd do it if I had to start over.
The #1 mistake I made when I first started posting on X was writing about whatever I wanted.
I wasted my time
I wasted my effort
I wasted my money
The secret is to DO WHAT WORKS (especially at the beginning).
That’s how you fast-track your growth, authority, and authenticity.
Engaging Properly
The main way of getting eyes on your profile without relying on content is through engagement (writing comments).
That is why everyone and their moms are selling you growth (engagement) courses.
But what none of them tell you is how to engage THE RIGHT WAY.
You will need to engage with larger accounts in your niche to try and ‘steal’ their audience.
The best way to ‘steal’ their audience is by writing valuable comments.
These can be:
Your perspective on the topic
Ask a question and get them to respond to you
A problem you solved related to that topic and how
A short story that comes to mind when reading that topic
Add to the tweet and format it like you would for your own content
The more replies you get, the more potential for growth you have.
Pro tip:
Use the comments you write as content-generating ideas.
Creating Content (The Right Way):
Virality isn’t everything.
But it doesn’t mean to not put any effort into something because it won’t go viral.
Because look, it doesn’t matter what your niche is (whether it’s exciting or boring) you can turn every topic into an exciting one.
The question then is “How do you make that happen?”
The answer you’re looking for is DO WHAT IS ALREADY WORKING.
Here’s my 3-step process of creating content the right way:
1) Find time-tested content:
Top-ranking blog posts on Google
Viral Pinterest, IG, and TikTok posts
Top tweets from creators in your niche
Featured articles on Medium (in your niche)
Most popular YouTube videos from creators in your niche
These content ideas have already been tried, tested, and true (especially YouTube videos, they have done wonders for me).
2) Writing Content:
From the posts that you have seen, take:
Headlines
Video titles
Thumbnails
Use them for your content firepower. Turn headlines into:
Tweets
Another headline
Expand on the headline
Turn YouTube videos to:
List style tweets
Individual tweets
Threads and Long form posts
3) Leverage Other Creators Audience’s:
Instead of building your audience all on your own (very hard to do)
Let other creators help you build your audience.
There are 2 ways you can do things:
Make connections in DMs (most people will think you’re selling them something)
Feed the creator’s ego (and get them to like you)
Here’s how you can do it:
Write a thread about a topic
Tag relevant people who talk about that topic
DM them and tell them they inspired you to write the post
They will be excited to see what you have written (and they might RT your thread).
Want to take your writing to the next level and write content that people love to read and follow?
I’m taking on 3 new people and telling them all the writing secrets they need to know to create an authoritative, authentic, and growing personal brand.
Reply with “content” if you want to learn more.
That’s all for today, thank you for reading!
