What seperates a greate writer from a normal writer
Lessons from 2 of my recent 'viral' posts.
The best writers are those who can create emotions.
I don’t know who said it, but it must've been said by someone who’s a great writer.
Maybe Dan Koe, Kieran Drew, or Hussain Ibarra.
It was probably Hussain...
Anyway, I am writing this because I want to share with you a thought I had when I was on my way to work.
Recently, 2 posts of mine ‘blew up’ (to my standards).
At first, I didn’t think too much about them, but as I looked deeper, I figured it out!
I had that ‘Aha!’ moment that all great writers do (since I'm obviously one of them...)
Let me show you the 2 tweets and then I’ll tell you why they performed so well.
I met over 100 successful people in my life and they all had these traits:
• They write
• They help others
• They hit the gym
• They invest in self-education
• They work on high-leverage tasks
• They have a passion project to work on— Hussain Ibarra (@HussainIbarra)

My controversial morning routine (productivity gurus will hate this):
• Wake up
• Drink tea
• Start workingSimplicity is the answer you’re looking for, not complexity.

Can you see why it performed so well?
waiting…
still waiting…
They both create emotions.
“Wow that’s so lame, Hussain”
I know, but hear me out. Yes, they both create emotion BUT each one does it slightly differently.
The first post plays into the ego of the readers and creates curiosity in their minds.
When someone reads the post they all go “I want to know if I have some of these successful traits.”
So they read the first point, then the second, then the third, until they finish the post.
Then they can say “Wow I have all of these traits!” or "I have 4 out of 6 traits!"
Either way, it's a win. Why?
Because the reader feels good about himself (feeding their egos), he likes the post, comments, and then follows.
I also had a bit of Authority By Association in the hook:
“I met 100 successful people…”
People automatically assume I’m successful just because I met other successful people.
I come off as someone authoritative and trustworthy.
Now would it have been better if I said “millionaires” or “billionaires”? Yes, but then I’d be lying and I don’t like liars.
Now moving on to post numero dos (I don’t know why I said it in Spanish lol).
Here it is again :)

This post is a bit different with the whole emotions.
The style is what I like to call “Public Enemy”, but that’s not the whole point.
Again, the hook creates curiosity.
When people read the hook they go “Why is it controversial? And why would gurus hate his routine?”
But that’s not the main reason why it did so well…
The reason why the post did so well is that it had the “Finally someone said it!” emotion.
Maybe you’ve noticed this too, but lately, everyone has been talking about their “pitch-perfect morning routine”
And to be honest, I got fed up by it, so I wrote a tweet. The people loved it (hopefully you as well <3)
If you can say something the reader wants to hear then you're going to be their go-to writer.
Tip For The Day:
Next time you’re going to write your tweet ask yourself this question:
“What does my reader see, think, and feel?”
Then write exactly that!
Here’s a list of emotions that could spark an idea or two for you <3
- lol
- aha!
- YAY!
- wtf?!
- omg!
- Finally, someone said it!
Now listen, this style of content won’t guarantee that your posts will 'pop off'.
I wrote many different versions of these tweets and most of them flopped. But that’s social media for you.
But the better you are at creating emotions and writing the better your posts will perform.
Also, if you're serious about creating a personal brand and writing content then it's your lucky day!
Kieran just gave his course a face-lift, re-recorded every video, and made them even better than last time.
He took HIW 1.0 and put it on steroids.
That is the best way to describe HIW 2.0.
I am grateful enough to have picked up HIW 1.0 and it was the biggest game-changer to my writing.
If I could only choose 1 writing course to buy for the rest of my life it would be HIW.
(it’s an affiliate link but I only promote stuff I think is truly valuable for you)
PS:
You don’t want to miss the bonus called Social Media Made Simple (he shares all of his secrets about growing online). And since the man has over 200k followers on X and another 30k on LinkedIn the man knows what he’s talking about.
On that note, I’ll see you on Sunday! Thanks for reading!
Adios Amigo!
