Starting your newsletter with a pointless story

Today I tried to run 5km under 25 minutes.

For context, I only ran 5km under 25 minutes once and that was at the end of my marathon prep, so I was in peak condition (for running).

But today, I decided that it was time to give it a go again.

The first 1km was going smoothly. The 2nd km was where shit started hitting the fan.

I started gassing out, but still I had some energy in me my pace went from 4:50 to 5:05.

That means I won't reach my goal. Not good.

But in the 3rd km is where I gassed out completely.

I was drenched in sweat, breathing heavily, cramping everywhere, even the air that I was breathing felt like it was fake (thought there was something wrong with my breathing).

That's when I decided to call off the attempt and mark it as a failed attempt.

The last 2km I decided to turn it into a light jog and walk.

At the 4km mark, I had a surprise.

My cousin saw me run and kept honking (that's his way of saying hi to me) till he reached his house. Finally some positive energy.

Anyway, after I got done with my shower run I checked my weather app cuz this humidity was killing me.

Turns out the humidity was 80% and the weather was 37 degrees!

No wonder the air felt fake.

But Hussain, what does this have to do with storytelling?

Good question…

Absolutely nothing. And that's one of the worst things you can do in storytelling.

You see, one of the worst things you can do when you're telling a story is to not have any lessons for your reader and only talk about yourself.

Here’s another mistake that you should never make:
